SGN is on the hunt for the best and brightest Senior Mobile Game Engineer in Carlsbad to work on our hit game, Cookie Jam.  We're looking for an extremely talented and seasoned engineer with a passion for interactive entertainment and games.
Our studio and culture is geared towards producing the best quality games in the world and having fun while we do it. SGN has a full team of in-house artists,  game designers, producers and engineers.  Our core technology allows developers to plug into a scalable backend, flexible game frameworks, analytics and cross-platform methodologies.  SGN is growing, profitable and has offices in LA, SD, SF and Argentina.

Specifically, we're looking for:
  • 8-10+ years programming experience, with 5+ on mobile; 5+ years as Senior or Lead
  • A history of developing software architecture and a history of shipping commercially successful products.
  • Demonstrated competency in several of the following specialties, with an expertise in more than one:  gameplay, physics, 3D graphics/rendering, game logic, networking, AS3/Flash, optimization, analytics.
  • Demonstrated experience with several of the following Flash related technologies: Adobe AIR, Starling, Feathers, Flex.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of several of the following platforms, with specific programming experience of more than one: iOS, Android, consoles, PC or browser based games.
  • Demonstrated command of applicable programming languages and a thorough knowledge of software design practices including modularity, event-driven architecture, object-oriented design, graphics and animation techniques, portability, extensibility and testability.
  • Demonstrated fluency in at least two of the following: C++, C#, Java, Objective-C, ActionScript 3, major scripting languages.
  • Proven expertise in producing high-performance product, with special focus on performance tuning and optimal resource utilization.
  • Proven problem solving skills and the ability to jump on a system and identify its flaws and their solution quickly.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software best-practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex code problems efficiently.
  • Demonstrated experience in building new software technology.
  • Self-starter, analytical, creative, highly motivated with a visionary spirit.
  • Strong skills in terms of identifying and articulating goals and risks to management.
  • Team player with strong influencing skills.
  • Proven track record of success as it relates to the full lifecycle of product development, launch and revenue success.
  • Great communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Familiarity with git, svn, p4 or other VCS.
  • Regular tasks to be performed include:
  • Working with the design team to create puzzle hazards that allow for the creation of fun and interesting game levels.
  • Play a substantial role in day-to-day coding, participating in performance profiling, optimization and general troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Participate with the rest of the engineering organization providing valuable input on the company's long term engineering roadmap and helping identify areas of opportunity for improvement.
  • Participate in prototyping meetings to provide technical perspective
  • Must currently reside within the  San Diego or Orange County Area.
